Join us for a spectacular blend of dance and music that will fill your soul with Christmas spirit... The Nutcracker brings to life Clara’s holiday dream of a mighty battle between a Mouse King and a Nutcracker, a meeting with her very own Sugar Plum Fairy, and a journey to the “Land of Sweets”. The Joffrey Ballet School returns to the Skirball Center with an endearing production of The Nutcracker to Tchaikovsky’s beloved score. Generations of audiences have enjoyed this charming tale of holiday adventure that follows a little girl’s journey through a fantasy world of dolls, toy soldiers, an army of mice, snowflakes, princes and fairies. Originally choreographed for the Joffrey Ballet School by Robert Ray, this production is produced and directed by Ms. Era Jouravlev and Ms. Jo Matos. The production features 300 students from the Joffrey Ballet School’s Children Ballet, Youth Ballet, and Trainee Programs performing all of the traditional roles.

The two-act ballet had its premiere at the Maryinsky Theatre in Street Petersburg, Russia, on December 17, 1892. It was based on an adaptation of a story by E.T.A. Hoffmann called The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. The Joffrey Ballet School’s production of The Nutcracker is a traditional holiday classic you won’t want to miss.
