The Washington Post calls Barrio Grrrl!
“A gentle and witty children's musical."

Drawing strength from her music, her Latino culture, her family, and her extraordinary imagination, spunky nine-year-old Ana practically explodes off the stage, becoming her own hero in the face of incredible circumstances.

With her mother serving overseas in Iraq, Ana is living with her abuelo in el barrio of Philadelphia. There, she uses her imagination to come up with clever ways to entertain herself and her friends. Ana also has her own alter-ego superhero, Barrio Grrrl!, and her equally tenacious invisible friend, Amazing Voice, by her side as she faces the hardest challenge of all: growing up.

Now, Ana needs to decide what’s most important: being a busy superhero preserving justice in el barrio and protecting her neighborhood or being a girl who works little miracles in real life.

"A bright comic book-like valentine to urban America."
