NYU Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Wayne Dumaine, performs Sibelius Symphony No. 2 and Beethoven “Emperor” Piano Concerto, featuring Alexandra Scheer, the winner of the 2019 NYU Steinhardt Piano Concerto Competition. The program will open with a work by a winner of the 2019 NYU Steinhardt Orchestral Composition Competition.

Fletcher, Messiaen, and Shchedrin

NYU Symphony will be led by Jonathan Haas on a program that contains Alan Fletcher’s If on a winter’s night a traveler, Rodion Shchedrin’s take on George Bizet’s Carmen Suite, and Olivier Messiaen’s Oiseaux exotiques, featuring NYU Steinhardt Associate Professor of Music and Director of Piano Studies Marilyn Nonken.
