Archives Onstage: María Irene Fornés

María Irene Fornés is often called the “greatest and least known dramatist of our time.” Her work as a playwright, director and teacher has influenced and inspired countless theatre artists. Her connection to NYU itself is long-standing – she taught playwriting at NYU Tisch for decades, and some of her papers are archived in NYU’s Special Collections in the Division of Libraries. Learn more about that collection here.

This fall, Archives Onstage celebrates Fornés’s work, life and legacy in a series of events across NYU’s campus. Learn more and RSVP to individual events below.

Curated by MJ Kaufman, Gwendolyn Alker, Rye Gentleman and J de Leon. Co-sponsored by NYU’s Division of Libraries, Tisch’s Rita & Burton Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing and Department of Drama, the Arts and Impact Initiative, and NYU Skirball.
