NYU Skirball Center, located in the heart of Greenwich Village, is downtown Manhattan’s premiere Cultural Center. The 2017-18 season, the first curated by Director Jay Wegman, features challenging, provocative and adventurous programing, reflecting the intellectual and counter-culture traditions of the historically bohemian Village.
The 860-seat state-of-the art performance venue provides a home for internationally renowned artists, innovators and thinkers. Its presentations span a wide variety of genres, from dance, theater, music, film and performance art.
NYU Skirball’s unique place within New York University enables it to contextualize each performance by drawing on the expertise of NYU’s internationally renowned faculty. The University’s intellectual riches and resources enhance Skirball’s programming through dialogues and special events with artists, philosophers, scientists, Nobel Laureates and journalists.
The facility, designed by architect Kevin Roche with excellent sightlines and acoustics, features a state-of-the-art sound system, technology and broadcast capabilities, making it a sought-after venue for film and television screenings and premieres, theatrical events, and live radio and podcast presentations.
