Join us for a conversation on the Civilians’ “Sex Variants of 1941,” in the NYU Skirball Lower Lobby – with the Civilians’ Steve Cosson and Jessica Mitrani, in conversation with historian Michael Waters.
Michael Waters is a historian who has written for The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Slate, and elsewhere. He’s the author of The Other Olympians: Fascism, Queerness, and the Making of Modern Sports.
The Civilians’ world premiere production is based on a 1941 text by George W. Henry, titled Sex Variants: A Study of Homosexual Patterns – although the original idea for the text and the majority of the research belonged to Jan Gay, who was credited only as an assistant in the publication of the text. Learn more about the history and context behind the production.
Free and open to the public.
