NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE
“I can safely say that I’ve never seen anything quite like Burnt Toast … a disturbing yet tender tale of love and cannibalism.” – The New York Times
ABOUT THE WORK
Norwegian theater company Susie Wang makes its highly anticipated U.S. premiere with Burnt Toast, a surreal and darkly comic thriller that blends horror, humor, and the uncanny. Set in a crimson-hued hotel lobby in the American South, the play follows a mysterious man with a silver briefcase and a nursing mother whose chance encounter spirals into a bizarre, unsettling narrative. With echoes of Lynchian unease and absurdist wit, Burnt Toast lures audiences into a world where the everyday turns eerie and the grotesque feels strangely familiar. This internationally acclaimed production showcases Susie Wang’s signature blend of psychological horror and sharp social commentary and marks the U.S. debut of one of Europe’s most daring and original theater companies.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
The Norwegian theatre company Susie Wang was formed in 2017 by Trine Falch, Martin Langlie, Mona Solhaug and Bo Krister Wallstrøm.
Having worked in a performative tradition for many years, embracing everything authentic and real, they grew increasingly curious about the theatrical un-real – and as Susie Wang, they now make theatre with characters and plots.
Or as they say: Susie Wang was brought up with a shattered world view, but instead of reflecting the world in fragments, we have started to pick up the pieces and put them together as dramatic storylines.
